Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources and Freedom Holding Corp. Sign Memorandum of Cooperation for the Conservation of Natural Resources

The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Freedom Holding Corp. have announced the signing of a memorandum of cooperation aimed at uniting efforts to preserve and sustainably manage Kazakhstan’s natural resources. This document sets forth joint initiatives focused on the protection and restoration of the country’s biological resources, with a particular emphasis on safeguarding wildlife, plant life, and forest ecosystems.

The document signing ceremony took place as part of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), held in Baku, Azerbaijan, from November 11 to 22, 2024, at the Qazaqstan national pavilion. The signatories were Yerlan Nysanbayev, Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and Timur Turlov, CEO of Freedom Holding Corp.

Under the memorandum, the parties will implement advanced technologies and practices for the effective management of Kazakhstan’s natural resources, aligning with both national priorities and the global 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The partnership envisions comprehensive support for environmentally significant projects and the development of strategies to help ecosystems adapt to the impacts of climate change.

A key area of collaboration will be the reintroduction of the Turanian tiger, a rare and unique species, as well as the protection of its natural habitat. This project aims not only to restore the Turanian tiger population but also to strengthen the resilience of Kazakhstan’s ecosystems to changing climate conditions, enhance biodiversity, and improve the effectiveness of conservation initiatives.

The signing of this memorandum reflects the shared commitment of Freedom Holding Corp. and the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan to jointly promote sustainable and innovative environmental solutions.
